I want to start this post by saying something that most AI consultants will not say: a monthly retainer is not magic. It does not transform your business overnight. It does not replace the need for you to think clearly about your operations. And it is not appropriate for every SME at every stage.

But for the right business at the right stage, a monthly retainer delivers consistent, compounding value that a one-off project cannot. Here is exactly what that looks like with Paddly.ai — and what it does not include.

What Actually Happens in Month One

Month one is always a mapping exercise. Before we can automate anything, we need to understand what your current operations look like. This is not a light-touch discovery call — it's a structured audit of your actual workflows.

In practice, that means walking through your week in detail: what are the recurring tasks, who does them, how long do they take, and what tools are involved? We document every data flow — where information comes from, where it goes, and where it currently breaks down or requires manual intervention.
